A quality comment includes a lot of things like a question at them and you have to include something you can relate to because if you do you will have a better connection with the person. In a quality comment you also need to have you also need to have a bit of fun as well so by asking questions like how did you do that was it fun how did you do. Those are some reasons of what a quality comment is.

Libraray Reflection Term 1

As a reader i like to read humor, sports or mysteries. I chose those genres because I find them interesting because they would always hook me in straight away. I could read a choose your own path one as well. I love those type of books because they are different but there are a lot of genres in the books.

A book that I would recommend is Ahndo Weirdo. I recommend this book because he has a different lifestyle in the books and he isn’t like other kids. He is also really funny. His background is Vietnamese and its a cool life style that hooks me in with its humor. As funny as it is it isn’t all funny. There could be a serious situation and that could hook in people that like genres on that topic.

I am currently reading the hatch. It is about a boy and a pilot who are on a helicopter. The captain passes out mid way so the boy has to control the helicopter and land it on its own which is going to be very hard.

What is your favourite genres and why?

New year in 5DF

Hello everybody😁😁

I cant believe I’m in year 5DF already. I’m really excited for year 5, here’s why. I am really excited APS, through the whole junior school I’ve been looking forward do this and know I have an opportunity of doing a lot of different sports. I am also pretty happy that I am in the upstairs space because the year 4 area isn’t really that good. I hope I would have a great year.

Future year 4 blogpost

Dear Future Year 4s,

I will hope you enjoy 2020 year 4 and have a great year

Here’s three things that you need:

-Positive attitude because sometimes things aren’t going to go your way

-Perseverance because things are hard in year 4 so that’s why you need to persevere

-And most importantly you need collaboration because through year 4 you need to collaborate to pretty much everyone other wise you will get nowhere

Two things that you should look forward to are:

-camp is exciting because of all the new things you can explore

-and an exciting year because there are so much things to look forward to in year 4

A time I laughed is when:

In Chinese when me, Oscar and Tom where presenting something and we stuffed up that much the teacher left.

A time I was challenged is when I was at camp and I had to do the giant swing and I was very scared but I still did it and now I will never regret doing it.

I am proud of how much I have improved with my times tables because I started the year with not knowing too much but know I know them of by heart.

I always remember Mrs. Burns and Mrs. Haines saying that don’t give up because I would always insist and say I couldn’t do it but they both make me persevere and sometimes I don’t but they would always encourage me to do something even if it’s out of my comfort box.

Nativity Play

This term we have been making a play about the story of Jesus how he was born. Here is the process of how we made it come together. First of all we would used our knowledge of what we know to write a scene with a partner, I wrote scene 8 with David. The character in our scene was King Herod and the Wise Men. Then we ran through it and read everyone’s scene in order. The teachers put it together, the we made a script and started to practise. I got the narrator which was not a big roll but it wasn’t small. We practised and practised and then we had to perform it to the rest of year 4. We will be performing it to parents, year two and people at the age care facility. The thing that I enjoyed most is practicing because each time I could see that we were getting better and better. The challenging thing was that it took a long time for us to get it right and even now we can’t get it right but we are improving. Here are some photos of me and friends during the play. Judging information books

This term we have been judging the CBCA information short list books non fiction and fiction. We had to judge the books on their layout based on their visual appearance, layout and information. What I think makes a good information book is something that could have a reasonable amount of text inside it. A good information book could also have an easy to read layout. A good information book is also based on it visuals so if it has great pictures that match well with the text this is important . I chose the book Make Believe by M.C. Escher, here is a picture of my rating of the book. As you can see, my notes list my thoughts on the visuals, layout and information. Make Believe  has won by a lot of votes between year 4, 5 and 6. I have chosen visuals ten out of ten because inside the book it has all of his famous drawings and has tips how to draw them. I gave the layout a ten out of ten  because I like how it has the text on the side and  the picture pin the middle. This makes it very easy to see. I also give  the visuals 10 out of 10 because there are lots of different pictures of the author’s  drawings that are  really interesting to look at. That’s why make I made make believe a  30 out of 30!

Come to meet the scientist

With our experiment we were successful with the experiment because we didn’t have any technical difficulties with our experiment. We also did very good with our keynote and with the experiment it was fast and easy to tell the time. The difficult and unsuccessful thing was we got interrupted when we were trying to do our experiment. The difficulty was the A3 poster, we didn’t really have enough detail in it the first time. So we had to make another poster which was much neater and we put more detail in it to make it look Spick and span. The Carey PLAs we used were curiosity and knowledge. We used curiosity by thinking of the right experiment with the right materials to make a good science experiment.

Reading is my secret power, book week

On the 23rd of August we had a day called book week. For people that don’t know what book week is, is technically a day where we dress up as a character from a book. I dressed up as a gorilla from planet of the apes. The book is about three human explorers who discovered apes. The author likes to write about very descriptive books that are not sad but can make you feel a lot of emotions. Here is a picture of me in my outfit, heads up, I would of taken pictures with other people but no one else was in my genre. I prepared for book week by selecting something that no one would wear. I also connected this character with me, because some times I act like a banana and apes eat bananas. I connected with the gorilla because I haven’t really dressed up or read books about gorillas so I chose a gorilla, The mask is also kinda scary so thats how I connected to the gorilla.

Times tables goals

In 4hb we have been practicing our times tables goals. We have been practicing different times tables. I have recorded it right here so I hope you can take knowledge of the graph I have made with all of my times tables. Also most of the times tables are the same.

Community service

This term in year 4 as part as our Homework we have been doing extra chores to earn money to make a blanket for Salvation Army.

We have been doing this for because the homeless people don’t have an option to be homeless in some situations. We will help them so they have Comfort when they are sleeping or lying on the ground.

The chores that I have been doing to raise money are rake the leaves, clean the house, take the bins out and wash my mum and dad‘s car.

Positive learner attributes that I have used are courage and resilience because when I was washing my mum and dads car it was a cold day and I got wet. In the morning I just woke up but I still clean the house even though I was half a sleep.

The person that works at Salvation Army is Peter, he came to visit us and told us about the Salvation Army. He says that there are these things that are called swags, they are technically a tent that you can rap around you. They said it is great and we should buy them.

The year4 had an experiment with materials. We tested a lot of materials to see which material we would use for the blankets. It was a great experiment that helped us find the answer.
